As the kids head back to school, AJ and Megan realize every hunting season brings it’s own set of joys and frustrations. AJ’s best friend Matt pulls one of only 14 gator tags in the county and invites him along for the hunt. Megan and AJ argue over the risks and rewards of hunting Florida’s most dangerous wild animal. Unable to pass up the opportunity to fill the freezer with meat, AJ and his motley crew of hunting buddies head out in search of a modern day dinosaur.
Ep. 2 - Shark Bait
The Neste’s load up the truck, with the old jon boat in tow, and head north to Florida’s last natural inlet for a weekend of camping and fishing. They meet up with close friends on an uninhabited island and visit third generation clam farmer Billy, who fends off hungry bull sharks during harvesting. AJ receives some bad news.
Ep. 3 – Feast, Famine and Art
After several weeks of unsuccessful hunting, the Neste’s meat freezer is close to empty. Faced with returning to a vegetarian diet AJ reflects on the artistry that inspires his photography and how hunting has sharpened his senses. While prepping for deer season he and his father explore some of their favorite images. This trip down memory lane isn’t paved with smooth roads.
Ep. 4 – A Fish out of Water
AJ heads to the Big Apple with Jovanni to visit his sister, the only member of the Neste family not living in Florida. Leaving Megan and the kids behind, he spends some quality one on one time with Jovanni exploring his roots. Jess Neste struggles to keep up with the competition while running a small modeling agency in Manhattan. Overwhelmed by the frantic pace of the city, AJ takes Jovanni to Fisher’s Island to meet up with a friend from Florida who runs a spearfishing camp there in the summer. Megan fights to keep her head above water while trying to take care of the house and kids by herself.
Ep. 5 – Oh Deer
AJ has six weeks to fill his freezer with venison meat before the woods are overrun with rifle hunters. Florida allows bow hunters a month and a half of quiet hunting before rifles are allowed to sight in a deer. Before the guns start blazing, the local cabbage harvest begins and presents an opportunity for the entire Neste family to provide food for the dinner table. AJ is presented with a new opportunity.
Ep. 6 – Go West Young Man
With hunting season in full swing AJ is invited to join good friends Matt and Rob on an Elk hunt in western Colorado. This trip is not only an opportunity to bring home a surplus of meat but also an opportunity to AJ to grow his business. The trio started a passion project called Huntatarian with the goal of sharing stories about the ethical harvesting of food through hunting and gathering. This hunt will test the Florida boys physically, mentally and emotionally. AJ feels the pressure to bring home more than a good story. Nine days away from the family and no protein may not have a happy homecoming.
Ep. 7 – Turkey Day
AJ goes after the elusive Osceola Turkey. Named after the famous Seminole Indian chief, these beautiful and elusive birds are only found on the Florida peninsula and are a prize for hunters from all over the world. Three generations of Neste’s and half the neighborhood gather for Thanksgiving hoping for a feast of epic proportions. Forgoing a single trip to the grocery store AJ visits the woods more times than anyone else in his family has the patience for.
Ep. 8 – Wheel’s UP
Megan and AJ run into Bug Mahoney at the farmer’s market. Former town butcher Bug is now confined to a wheel chair after battling MS for the past ten years. Bug shares his desire to go on one more hog hunt. AJ finds that getting a wheel chair into the woods is no easy task.

AJ heads to south Florida to try his hand at spearfishing with world renown waterman John Dornellas. Aside from being able to hold his breath and kick his legs, AJ has a lot to learn about the underwater world. Encounters with the invasive lion fish leads the team to a tasty cookout at a local restaurant where any invasive species is cooked for free.
